FDCQA Quality Practices Guide (2nd edition, 2004)

The main document to be used by family day care schemes progressing through FDCQA and has been developed specifically for coordination unit staff, carers and families who are participating in their scheme’s Accreditation process. The Quality Practices Guide details the 6 Quality Areas and Principles and gives examples of indicative practices for Satisfactory, Good and High Quality care for each. Schemes are responsible for designing their own self-study process against the standards outlined in the Quality Practices Guide. A scheme’s quality of care is also validated against these standards. FDCQA Handbook (3rd edition 2006)

Contains background information on FDCQA, an overview of the steps involved in achieving Accreditation and a summary of the 6 Quality Areas and Principles. The Handbook is intended for family day care carers, coordination unit staff, families and management as well as students and others interested in FDCQA. FDCQA Self-study Report (2nd edition, 2004)

The formal document for submission to NCAC at the required time. The Self-study Report will be completed by scheme management and the coordination unit staff, in consultation with carers and families. When completing the Self-study Report family day care schemes need to rate each Principle, record evidence of practice and plans for continued improvement across the 6 Quality Areas. FDCQA Validation Report (3rd edition, 2009)

The working document used by the Validator to observe practice in the service at Step 3: Validation. The Validator assesses the service against the standards outlined in the FDCQA Quality Practices Guide. The Validation Report is submitted to NCAC by the Validator following the scheme’s Validation Visit. (ISBN 0-9750664-3-9)
