Services:

The Early Childhood Training And Resource Centre (ECTARC) offers nationally accredited training to the child care industry throughout Australia, by distance education. ECTARC distance programs includes the Certificate III, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Community Services (Children's Services), Safe Food Handling, Menu Planning and Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.

ECTARC provides the training for traineeships in NSW, QLD, ACT and SA, and can deliver tailored workshops (eg child protection, infection control) at your service. ECTARC is a community owned, not for profit organisation.

Services:

Country Children's Services Association (CCSA) of NSW is a non-profit, non-government organisation that provides information, support, training and advocacy for early childhood services across NSW.   • Mentored support via a toll-free telephone hotline service, fax, email and face to face individualised support, including on-site consultation and customised training plans
  • Analysis of NCAC's final decision and establishment of support strategies on specific issues relating to quality practices
  • Access to online information and resources and ongoing intensive support to meet the standard required for accreditation

Services:

The role of NCISS is to support the inclusion of children with additional needs (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, Australian South Sea Islander Children, children from a Non-English speaking background, and children with a disability) into Commonwealth funded child care services. This includes supporting the Supplementary Services (SUPS) Program and the Special Needs Subsidy Scheme (SNSS), through the provision of training, information, consultation, resources and equipment. This support is mainly for SUPS workers.

Support for Services:

The NSW Family Day Care Association is the peak body for family day care in NSW. The NSW Family Day Care Association is non-profit and provides research, information and advice, advocacy, consultation, education and training for schemes in NSW and some in the ACT.

The Association consists of member schemes and affiliate members representing all stakeholders in family day care as well as other organisations in the child care industry.

PEAK Training, the Association's registered training organisation, offers nationally accredited training courses that are relevant to industry needs. PEAK Training offers flexible modes of delivery, customised to the needs of clients.

Children's Services Support Program (Central Australia) (CSSP) is a support centre for all children's services in Alice Springs and rural and remote areas.

  • CSSP provides training and support, information, advice and education to staff and management committees.
  • Access and Equity provide inclusion and support of children with additional needs, migrant backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds into mainstream children's services. The unit offers training, resources and specialised equipment.

Support for Services:

Queensland Children's Activities Network is the membership organisation for OSHC services in QLD and is the peak representative body. Its mission is to support and promote quality and best practice in school age care. As the only federally funded QLD body that provides QA support and training for OSHC, the network provides wholistic support and training for QA, licensing and accreditation.

Support for Not Accredited outside school hours care services:

The network provides in-service training that is tailored to meet the needs of services undergoing accreditation. It also provides a New Services Start Up Kit which includes detailed information on what is required for accreditation. The cost of this kit is refundable for services who receive Child Care Benefit funding.

Services:

Child Care Management Training & Support Unit (CCMTSU) and Indigenous Children's Services Unit (ICSU) are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services to provide training, advice and support to community owned and commercial long day care centres, occasional care centres, multifunctional centres and multifunctional aboriginal children services. Training packages are delivered face to face and on CD-Rom (in some instances).

CCMTSU (Brisbane) services long day care services in Queensland, providing training in financial management, strategic planning, human resource management, conflict resolution, and parent partnerships. CCMTSU also provides community based services with budgeting and financial monitoring services.

ICSU (Townsville) also delivers training and support to Commonwealth funded Children Services. Training is centred on delivering an indigenous culturally appropriate perspective into programs. Indigenous resources (books, activities and craft ideas) are also available to services on loan from the Unit's Resource Library.

The In-service Professional Development Team will assist and provide staff and management with scheduled and customised training in quality systems, safety, health and nutrition, relationships, programming, communication and human resource management as well as consultancies for personalised on to one and small group training.

Online training programs are available through the web and a specialised series training program is available to new owners. The Certificate Training Team can assist with accredited training in children's services for both private and traineeship students.

CHILD Australia is funded as the Professional Support Coordinator for Western Australia, an initiative of the Inclusion and Professional Support Program, funded by the Australian Government, to facilitate support for all child care services to participate in the Child Care Quality Assurance systems.

CHILD Australia is a community based organisation that aims to increase the equity of access and participation for all children, with a broader role of advocacy for the children's services industry through the provision of information resources and high quality professional development opportunities. CHILD Australia has a team of professional, multidisciplinary staff that believe in building inclusive communities and environments for children and their care providers.

  • Customised workshops

Support for Not Accredited Services:

  • Over the phone support, advice and referrals for both metropolitan and regional services
  • Copies of all articles recommended by NCAC
  • Referral to specialised support agencies for:
    • assistance with developing an action plan for continuous improvement
    • individualised needs analysis for professional development
    • recommendations to specialist training organisations for professional development
